Privacy & SMS Terms
What we collect when you contact us, where it goes, how long we keep it, and how to get it back or have it deleted. Written to describe what this site actually does — not a template.
The short version. We collect what you type into a form on this site — your name, email, phone, city and whatever you tell us about the project — and we use it to call you back about that project. We do not sell it. If you tick the SMS box we may text you, and you can stop that with one word.
Who we are

What we collect, and why

We do not ask for, and have no use for, a date of birth, a government ID number, a payment card or a social security number. If a form ever asks you for one of those, it is not ours.
Where it goes
A submission travels to exactly three places, and no further:
- Our inbox. An email alert to the Berriz team, sent through EmailJS.
- Our CRM. A contact record in GoHighLevel, which is where follow-up is tracked.
- Our own server, as a backup line in a log file, so a lead is never lost if one of the other two is down.
We do not sell your information, we do not rent it, and we do not hand it to other contractors, lead brokers or advertising networks. The only third parties involved are the ones above plus the analytics and advertising tools below, and each of those only sees what its own function requires.
Cookies and tracking
Strictly necessary cookies make the site work and remember your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off. Beyond those we use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages help homeowners, and a Meta pixel to measure advertising — and neither loads until you agree to it.
The banner you saw on arrival is a real control, not a notice. You can change your mind at any time: open cookie preferences. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as an opt-out of advertising cookies automatically and you will not see the banner at all. Your choice is stored in your own browser for 365 days.
Text messages
The SMS box on our forms is unticked by default and you are never required to tick it. The wording you agree to is this, in full:
By checking this box you agree to receive SMS messages from Berriz Design Build at the number provided, including messages sent by an automated system. Consent is not a condition of any purchase. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.
Messages are about your project and your appointment — scheduling, confirmations, and the occasional follow-up question. Frequency varies with the stage of your project; it is conversation, not a campaign. Reply STOP to any message and the texts end. Reply HELP and you get a phone number and an email address. Standard message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Ticking the box has no effect on pricing, scheduling or anything else — consent is not a condition of purchase.
How long we keep it
Enquiries that become projects are kept for as long as we have a business relationship and then for as long as Virginia requires contractors to retain project records. Enquiries that go nowhere are kept for three years, because home remodeling has a long consideration cycle and people do come back. Analytics data expires on Google's schedule, currently 14 months. You can ask us to delete your record sooner — see below.
Your choices
Virginia's Consumer Data Protection Act gives residents of the Commonwealth the right to see what we hold about them, to correct it, to delete it, and to obtain a copy. We extend those same rights to everyone who contacts us, regardless of where they live, because operating two standards is harder than operating one.
To use any of them, email bob@berrizdesign.com with the phone number or email address you used. We will confirm within a reasonable period. If we ever have to refuse a request we will tell you why, in writing.
Security, stated plainly
The site runs over HTTPS, form submissions are rate-limited, and access to the CRM is restricted to the Berriz team. No website can promise perfect security, and we are not going to be the ones who do. What we can promise is that we hold less of your data than most sites of this kind, because we only ask for what a first conversation actually requires.
Children
This site is for homeowners and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has submitted a form, tell us and we will remove it.
Changes to this page
If we change how any of this works, we change this page, and the date below changes with it. A material change also re-triggers the cookie banner rather than quietly relying on a consent you gave to an older version.
