From koi ponds to elaborate wall fountains, our exterior remodeling contractors can design the water feature that best suits your style, helping you create an outdoor oasis to leave a lasting impression on all your guests. ## The Power of Water in Landscape Design There’s something timeless and universally appealing about water. Its presence in a landscape can serve multiple purposes—from masking noise pollution and attracting birds to encouraging mindfulness and relaxation. Fountains and waterfalls can be focal points in a formal garden, integrated into a patio or poolscape, or tucked into a quiet corner for a more intimate retreat. When thoughtfully designed, these features add movement, sound, texture, and elegance to your property. At Berriz Design Build, we work with you to create a water feature that feels like a natural extension of your lifestyle and design vision. ## Custom Fountain Design & Remodeling Fountains come in a wide range of styles and configurations—from classical tiered structures and modern minimalist bowls to wall-mounted designs and sculptural centerpieces. Our team specializes in both new fountain installations and the remodeling or restoration of existing water features. We begin by discussing how you want to use the space. Are you looking for a bold, dramatic entrance feature, or a quiet courtyard fountain with soft ambient sounds? From there, we craft a detailed design plan that accounts for scale, style, water flow, materials, lighting, and integration with your existing landscape. We source premium materials like natural stone, copper, bronze, and hand-cast concrete to ensure your fountain is built to last and reflect your personal taste. Remodeling an outdated or damaged fountain? We can retrofit old systems with modern plumbing and filtration technology, update the look with new finishes or stonework, and improve efficiency while preserving the charm of your original design. ## Backyard Waterfalls & Cascades A waterfall is a dramatic way to bring movement and natural beauty into your outdoor space. Whether incorporated into a pool design, built into a slope in your backyard, or paired with a koi pond or reflecting pool, waterfalls provide soothing sound, visual interest, and an organic sense of flow. At Berriz Design Build, we approach waterfall design as both a technical and artistic endeavor. Our in-house designers and builders collaborate to shape stone, set elevations, direct water flow, and engineer plumbing systems that are reliable and easy to maintain. We often combine waterfalls with other features such as: - Natural rock formations and boulders - LED lighting for nighttime ambiance - Aquatic plants and fish ponds - Rain curtains and sheet waterfalls for modern appeal Every project is customized to suit your yard’s topography and your personal preferences. ## The Design-Build Difference As a full-service design-build company, Berriz Design Build offers a seamless process from concept to completion. We handle every aspect of your water feature project—design, permits, excavation, plumbing, installation, lighting, and hardscaping—with meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship. You’ll work with one dedicated team from start to finish, ensuring consistency in communication, quality, and vision. We also understand that a water feature should complement the rest of your home and landscape. That’s why we take a holistic approach—blending hardscaping, planting, lighting, and custom features to create a unified, functional outdoor living space. ## Water Feature Lighting & Maintenance What makes a water feature truly magical is how it transforms throughout the day—and especially at night. We incorporate custom lighting solutions that highlight movement, texture, and depth. Whether it’s a spotlight behind a cascading fall or underwater LEDs glowing beneath the surface, lighting enhances both safety and atmosphere. We also offer guidance and resources for maintaining your fountain or waterfall. While modern systems are designed for easy upkeep, routine cleaning and winterizing will help preserve your investment for years to come. Our team can walk you through maintenance needs or recommend trusted service providers. ## Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) What types of fountains and waterfalls can Berriz Design Build create for my home? We specialize in designing and building a wide range of custom water features to suit any style or space. From elegant tiered garden fountains and modern water walls to natural rock waterfalls and koi pond cascades, we tailor each project to complement your home's architecture and landscape. Whether you want a bold statement piece or a serene, tucked-away retreat, we’ll bring your vision to life. How much maintenance do fountains and waterfalls require? Modern fountains and waterfalls are designed to be low-maintenance, especially when installed with high-quality pumps and filtration systems. However, regular upkeep—such as cleaning debris, checking water levels, and winterizing before cold weather—is essential to keep your water feature functioning properly and looking beautiful. We can also offer guidance or refer maintenance services to help you protect your investment long-term. Can you remodel or restore an existing fountain or waterfall? Absolutely. If you have an older water feature that’s outdated, damaged, or inefficient, we can redesign or restore it to improve both form and function. This may include updating the aesthetics with new materials, enhancing the water flow, repairing leaks, replacing pumps, or adding lighting. Our goal is to preserve what you love while making your fountain or waterfall more beautiful, efficient, and aligned with your current landscape. Will adding a fountain or waterfall increase my home’s value? Yes, a professionally designed and installed water feature can enhance your home's curb appeal and outdoor living experience, which often translates to increased property value. Buyers are drawn to homes with well-executed landscaping and unique features like fountains or waterfalls. These elements add a sense of luxury, tranquility, and uniqueness that sets your property apart. How do I get started with a custom water feature project?
